Mahjong is a popular table game that has been around for thousands of years. It originated in China and has since spread and evolved to many different countries. It is played with mahjong tile sets with four people. It is a game of skill and strategy where you try to be the first to complete your tile sets. In general, a player is dealt 13 or 16 tiles. On your turn, you draw a new tile and discard a tile from your hand trying to compete tiles in 3 to 4 of a kind sets and sequences. All the discarded tiles are on the table for the players to see. Basic strategy is that you do not want to discard a tile that causes the other player to win while trying to keep the optimal hand for the hightest points and chance to win by waiting for tiles that have not been discarded already.
You can find a mahjong set to fit any gift budget. A basic mahjong set can be bought for about $25 and up to $100 for a deluxe set with all the accessories and fancier tiles. Is is a great social game and gambling game that can be played for hours.
